Cooking for One or Two

Cooking for One or Two' is a basic 6-week cooking program designed to give veterans and the wider community confidence in preparing a variety of healthy meals using a number of easy cooking techniques.

Participants will prepare a three course meal together and share it afterwards. All participants will receive a recipe book and lots of great information and handy tips.

When: Tuesday 30th August, 6:00pm—9:00pm.
(This program runs over 6 consecutive weeks)

Community art show wins award!!

Congratulations to all of those involved in putting together last years 'Kooweerup Community garden twilight BBQ and art show'. Recently at the 2011 Cardinia Shire Australia Day awards held on the 26th January at the Cardinia Cultural Centre, our art show won the award for 'community event of the year'. This was a big surprise for us and we feel honoured to have won this award.
A big thankyou to those who voted for our event!

Worm farming is a great way to help your garden, reduce your waste, reduce your environmental footprint and give the kids some low maintenance pets!

Learn how to set up and manage a worm farm from scratch, how to separate and use castings and worm juice.

Learning what food to eat can help you negotiate your day in the right state of mind, Bad moods can lead us to bad foods – but researchers are finding the reverse is also true. Food can also have a good influence on your mood, making you feel calm, energised, refreshed and so on.
Come and participate in our fun and hands-on workshop: we will prepare and eat 3 healthy and delicious dishes!

Last Thursday 8th April the Men's shed at the Kooweerup community hub was blessed by the Reverend Brenda Burney. The service was a very warm and friendly affair and was a celebration for the whole community including those residents of the nursing home and hostel, where the shed and garden (Hub) was identified as a place where it matter none what as to your age, gender, mobility you were made to feel welcome and you could enjoy the space in any which way.
The Community hub can only grow from this and the community is urged to utilsie the space as often as possible.
